Misson & vission
Empower Afghan women and girls into transitioning settle, embrace, and contribute to Canadian economy.
Values
ACWGS (Afghan Canadian Women for Global Corporation) established in 2023 as a registered charity. ACWGS is Afghan refugee women agency focuses on helping unique concerns and needs afghan women, girls and their family.
ACWGS provide literacy and language training programs and services and support on how to access employment support that help Afghan refugee women in the areas of settlement and integration.
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that we are on the traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Stoney Nakoda First Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley) and the Tsuut’ina First Nation. The city of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.

Robina Hamdard Founder
Robina has over fourteen years of experience in development, gender equality, and peace and security programming. She has a BA in law and political science faculty of Kabul University and she was a student of master class in IR. She worked in Women’s rights, gender equality, grant management, advocacy, proposal writing, event management, monitoring & evaluation, capacity building, and project management, at Afghanistan Human Rights Commission, The Killid Group media, advocacy manager at Afghan Women’s Network, UNDP, International Foundation for Election System, US Ambassador’s small grants program, and UN Women Afghanistan. She attended several courses in clouding VITAL VOICES Leadership Journey. She was a board member of AWRO and AWSPO organizations in Afghanistan.
She evacuated to Albania with the support of Vital Voices and established an advocacy committee there to raise Afghan women’s voices and conducted several advocacy gatherings and interviews in support of Afghan women, and she shifted to Calgary- Canada in April 2022 and registered an association (Afghan Canadian Women for Global Corporation) the overall goals for her association are:
Afghan immigrant women integration into the community
Capacity building on life skills (English language, driving courses… for migrant women)
Financially self-sufficiency training for women
She facilitated many trainings for Afghan Families with the CCIS office here in Calgary and translated four books for the CIWA office in Pashto.
Latifa Majidi BIO
An experienced leader with a demonstrated history of working in women’s economic empowerment and development. My areas of specialty include leading development initiatives in non-profit organizations, project management, team management, and public relations. I am a dedicated community and social services professional with a Master’s degree in Public Administration. I have worked, travelled, and studied in many countries, including India, UAE, USA, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. I gained an understanding of each country’s unique context and the local challenges and limitations that women faced in economic development. I have worked with the MoPH/ Ministry of Public Health, international and donor agencies of different groups of rights holders, and CSOs. Working on projects in the development sector, women’s rights and poverty reduction is my passion.
